Pupils are assessed in their progression in phonics using individual Phonic Passports. These are detailed assessments of knowledge and skills which are then used to plan pupil groups and identify extra support that may be required. These assessments are carried out regularly.
At Key Stage 2, pupils who have been identified as requiring further support, continue to use their Phonic Passports to inform teacher planning of interventions. These interventions can occur within the school day or as an after school intervention session.
