All of the pupils at Lawley Primary are appropriately placed on our school reading scheme. We use Oxford Reading Tree resources throughout school.
In EYFS and Key Stage One, texts are directly linked and sequenced with the phonics teaching, and pupils move through the reading scheme in line with their phonics progression. This progression is regularly assessed and monitored using individual phonic passports. In year 2, when appropriate, pupils may move onto the Key Stage Two reading levels.
In Key Stage Two, pupils continue to progress through the reading scheme, with regular reviews of progress and careful monitoring supported by formal assessments using the Salford Sentence Reading Test. Pupils who are working at a greater depth in their reading have access to a wide range of appropriate quality books, available in each class library, to enhance and expand their reading experience.
