Lawley Primary School

"Planting the seeds, growing the future"

Morning routines

In Year 3, we will build on the independence your child gained when they were in Year Two and expect them to come into class on their own. They will need to hang up their coat and bag on their named peg and if they have bought a packed lunch they can go and put it in the designated area in the corridor.

EMA (Early Morning Activity) time will then take place where children will be expected to carry out a specific activity whilst the class teacher takes the register.

Home/ school communication:

You are able to contact the teaching staff directly via email or through the school office. Any morning messages can be communicated through the person on the door and the class teacher usually dismisses the class at the end of the day.

PE days:

Both Year 3 classes have PE on a Wednesday and Friday. We ask that the children wear the correct kit.

Indoor PE kit is needed on a Friday, outdoor kit on a Wednesday.

Indoor kit: Black shorts, white T shirt (or the colour of the child’s own house)

Outdoor kit: Black shorts, black joggers if cold, white T shirt (or the colour of the child’s own house), warm jumper, trainers.

All homework will be issued to the children through their IPad. If a child uses a school only IPad, then they will have a paper copy of the set homework. Homework is to be collected in on the following Wednesday.

Spellings are issued on a Friday, to be tested the following Thursday/Friday. The spellings will be recorded in their Writing books and the children will be required to take a photograph of their test, so that you can see their results at home.

It will really help your child to make excellent progress if you read daily with them. Children are encouraged to change their reading book themselves and record it in their reading record diaries.

The children will be given times tables to practise at home. This will take the form as a maths matrix, where the children can have access to this through their IPad. The children will be asked to photograph their results, so that you can monitor their progress at home.

End of the day routines:

Children in Miss Evans’s class will be collected from their class fire door, which leads directly on to the playground. Miss Jones’s class will be collected from the main door of Wrekin block.

Please note that we can only send children home with parents, unless we have received a message via the office.
