All pupils form Year 1 to Year 6 are assessed termly on their high frequency words and are then placed on their appropriate list. Please see the documents below for the lists. Once assessed, the pupils are provided with individualised weekly spellings to learn as homework. These are then tested each week in class. Termly reviews assess the longer term retention of these spellings.
During spelling lessons, pupils are taught strategies to learn high frequency words. They then can apply these to their weekly homework learning. Extension lists are provided to deliver mastery opportunities for more advanced spellers.
