PE days:

Both Year 5 classes have PE on a Monday and Friday. We ask that the children come into school wearing the correct kit. PE on Mondays is indoor, and outdoor on Fridays.

Homework:

This year your child has been given access to an online platform called SATs Companion. This is in place of Mirodo that they were using in Year 4. Your child has already been given their login and they should have it saved on their iPad (either on the website itself or as an photo). If you experience any difficulties with logging in, please contact us.
The expectations for homework using SATs Companion are as follows:
20 minutes per week Maths.
20 minutes per week English.
20 minutes per week Reading Comprehension (shown as 'Reading' on the platform).
It is also essential that your child reads at home everyday. Reading will make the biggest difference to the progress your child makes this year. The minimum amount of time that should be allocated to this is 20 minutes each day. Please record home reading in their Showbie reading diary - please encourage your child to do this for themselves!
We will check in school each Friday that homework has been completed that week and there will be half termly rewards for those that are consistent. The first check will be Friday 20th September.

End of the day routines:

Children in both classes will leave via the classroom doors at the end of the day. If parents have given permission via Parentpay, pupils will be allowed to walk home alone. All other pupils will wait with a member of staff at the classroom door until they are collected.
